Empowering Change through 21:92
“Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me.” Qu’ran (21:92)
Let’s make a difference in the lives of everyday Californian Muslims uniting to improve our condition. The Muslim community needs to amplify its voices and organize for change. We can do that by providing leadership training and local organizing committees that reflect the diversity of the American Muslims. Supporting #Project2192 will help California’s Muslim communities build its for local and state engagement. Together, we can be a united community working to leverage our diversity to address issues that matter in the Golden State.
INKERIJ aims to make congregational community organizing more inclusive, equitable, and accessible to Muslim communities. One million Muslim reside in California yet we are underrepresented in congregational organizing. In addition to the surge in hate incidents, studies indicate that Muslims also face disparities in (1) housing (2) healthcare, and (3) employment. Despite these challenges, California’s Muslims are underrepresented in both multi-racial coalitions and congregational community organizing.
The 2192 Community Project will provide leadership training and connect Muslim communities throughout California with local action networks. The objective is to identify the needs of each location and then align everyone on the same organizing agenda. As a community organizer Inkerij Foundation is a community partner with PICO California and its national network. Project 2192 aims to achieve the following…
- Provide leadership training and build capacity for community organizing
- Prepare and develop communities for voter engagement strategies.
- Align communities with local PICO action networks.
INKERIJ helps to build capacity for purpose-driven organizations and individuals through program development, audience insights, and 1-to-1 professional coaching.
Your support will help to provide vital training and capacity building that will align and strengthen by developing leaders and nonprofits. We are looking to evolve our diversity that consists of Black, Latino, Arab, and Asian Muslim communities through organizing and bridge the divide. We will also provide anti-racism strategies that will help build multi-faith solidarity with interfaith community partners.
