Col·lab·o·ra·tion /kəˌlabəˈrāSH(ə)/ [Noun] The action of working with someone to produce or create something.”

PICO California (PICO), MuslimArc, and INKERIJ decided to collaborate to help and build PICO’s understanding of California’s Muslim community. PICO is an interfaith community organizing network of nine local affiliates (federatons) who organize across 18 counties, from San Diego to Sacramento. PICO hosts multiple faith traditions within its “Spiritual Home.”

On Thursday, January 30, MuslimArc facilitated a virtual workshop to enlighten PICO’s Federations on Islamophobia and the root meanings of Islamic social justice. k.In 2024, many organizations worldwide had to re-evaluate, re-develop their relationships, and create a new approach to sustain the wor MuslimArc facilitated this training to 20-40 organizers who were eager to learn. MuslimArc’s co-founder and executive director Margari Hill presented a thorough overview, covering the root causes behind many common misconceptions about Muslims, and providing examples of how to bridge understanding. Imam Taha Hassane, of Islamic Center of San Diego, opened the workshop by sharing his experience.

Collaboration is a key tool for strengthening relationships, especially following a crisis. Personal dialogue between individuals helped us to work through stressful matters, eliminate conflict, and build new relationships among us. PICO and INKERIJ Foundation created an opportunity to help with healing relations throughout its Californian federations, with more work ahead.

INKERIJ Foundation helps to build capacity for purpose-driven organizations and individuals through program development, inclusion, and 1-to-1 professional safe space coaching.

“… Verily the most honorable of you In the sight of The Creator is the most righteous of you…” (49:13)
